Here are some thumbnails I sketched for James Paick's CGMA Environment Design class. A couple of these will be rendered into finished pieces. I love doing these fast and sketchy designs!

Karuta Designs
These are designs for Karuta (a Japanese card game where you have read a poem/sentence and find the matching card) I had to make for character design class. The theme is "sins and virues" and I based the designs on Japanese costume history. The letter on the card I transformed into a family crest design, to fit the theme.

Krazy Kitchen!
This was the final assignment for Character Design class, a piece of concept art that shows the atmosphere of the game. I titled my game " Krazy Kitchen". The main character Mark works with his parents in the kitchen of a castle when all of a sudden the food comes alive and starts to attack the people in the castle. The big boss, RoastButa (Roasted Pig), captures Mark's parents and takes over the castle. It is now up to Mark and his catapult to fight the evil fruit and vegetables and face Roastbuta in an epic battle to save his parents ;-p

Game Character Design Class 2
New assignment for Character Design class was to make one piece of "concept art", one finished drawing that shows the characters and atmosphere of the game. My drawing turned out to be more of a storybook drawing haha, so I'll be making another more gamey version too.
Also, I updated the characters with the feedback I received. There's now a Grapegirl, a Paprikadog and an Onioncowboy :-p.

Game Character Design Class
I'm following a game character design class in Japan, given by Noriko Omizo-sensei, who worked on Blue Dragon. It's a fantastic class but also very intensive! We received a small story, of which we had to make several character designs. During class we had to finish the rough sketches (front and sideviews) of the main character, the boss and three smaller enemies. The story was about a young boy who was suddenly attacked by monsters in his kitchen :-).

Gilgamesh - Character Designs
Here the character designs for Gilgamesh and his opponent, Humbaba. Gilgamesh is a very arrogant king in the story. He has very shiny armor and a crown to show this off. Humbaba was a terrible monster, whose face was made of entrails (really!). It was fun designing that character :)
